Professional Geologist, Pennsylvania

Sovereign Consulting Inc. seeks a Professional Geologist, licensed in Pennsylvania, to work from one of our Pennsylvania or New Jersey locations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and field support to a team of Project Managers managing a variety of environmental projects with a focus on petrochemical and retail petroleum UST remediation. Additionally, the successful candidate will oversee drilling operations during construction and/or remediation activities to ensure compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s issued Erosion and Sediment Control (E&S) Permits and Water Obstruction & Encroachment Permits.

Responsibilities for the position are:

• Direct oversight and execution of consulting tasks on complex construction and remediation projects

• Experience with portfolio management and unit rate billing structures

• Supervision and guidance of staff level positions

• Oversight and management of field activities, including drilling, soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, and UST closures & excavations

• Collection of supplemental site characterization data and information

• Aquifer characterization, groundwater, and contaminant fate & transport modeling

• Indoor air-quality evaluations as well as other exposure pathway and risk evaluations

• Preparation of Site Characterization Reports, Remedial Action Plans, other technical reports

Position requirements:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Geology preferred

• Professional environmental consulting experience required

• Professional licensure as a Pennsylvania Professional Geologist

• Thorough familiarity with applicable PA environmental regulations

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly with regard to writing technical reports and contributing to proposal preparation, project scoping, and project budget tracking

• Organizational skills and prior experience with MS Office products

• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training. Current 8-Hour refresher preferred
