Sovereign Presents at 53rd Annual Conference of PNWIS Air & Waste Management Association

Sovereign representative Tyler Chatriand, PE, CFM presented at the 53rd Annual Conference of the Pacific Northwest International Section (PNWIS) of the Air & Waste Management Association (AMWA) in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Tyler gave a talk on November 8th during the early morning session for Session 7A: Energy and Waste Management.

Tyler’s presentation was “Replacing an Aged Lime Treatment Plant at a Reclaimed Coal Mine using Passive and Semi-Passive Techniques.” A lime treatment plant at a coal mine in western Pennsylvania had exceeded its life cycle and required significant and costly repair. Site investigation indicated that several passive and semi-passive treatment alternatives could be implemented near the acid rock drainage sources to eliminate the need for the lime plant. The presentation focuses on the findings of the site investigation, summarizes a pre-design cost analysis of treatment alternatives, and presents the accomplishments to date towards implementing the conceptual treatment design.
