Former Refined Oil and Specialty Chemical Bulk Distribution Facility

Sovereign personnel supply the property owner and former operator of a closed 125-acre, 2.8 million barrel capacity former terminal with a wide array of environmental services, such as investigation of soil and groundwater impacts, delineation of deep groundwater, design and installation of new remediation systems and upgrades to the existing systems, groundwater monitoring and light non-aqueous phase (LNAPL) recovery, evaluation of potentially sensitive receptors, demolition and removal of all aboveground structures, public involvement and community outreach, operation of a 5,800 panel solar plant, regulatory negotiation, work plan development, and O&M of the on-site groundwater treatment plant.

Sovereign is implementing several remedial measures such as groundwater containment, LNAPL recovery, air sparging, soil vapor extraction, dual-phase extraction, ozone sparging, in-situ chemical oxidation, and enhanced bioremediation. Sovereign’s dedicated team works extensively with the client, the Gloucester County Improvement Authority, and the South Jersey Port Corporation to bring the site to final closure and beneficial reuse for the community.
