USACE New England District, Former Fort Devens Remedial Action Contract (RAC)

On behalf of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), New England District, Sovereign performed environmental services under a $25M/5-yr ID/IQ Remedial Action Contract (RAC) at the Former Fort Devens and the Former Sudbury Training Annex Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) sites, as well as other sites throughout the North Atlantic Division.

Sovereign managed and implemented full-scale innovative and conventional remedial actions, performed all long-term groundwater monitoring and reporting at the sites, operations and maintenance (O&M) of groundwater treatment facilities and systems, treatment system optimization, and remedial actions involving contaminated soil, sediment, landfills, and groundwater. The majority of Sovereign’s work involved HTRW field investigations, engineering support and remedial planning, response actions, removals, O&M, and long-term monitoring at AOCs at Fort Devens such as Shepley’s Hill landfill, AOC 7 at Sudbury Training Annex, and O&M activities at the CRREL Cold Research Facility in Hanover, NH. Sovereign conducted soil removals, feasibility studies for permeable reactive barriers, wetland delineation and benthic sampling, heavy metal impact evaluations, and system upgrades. Additionally, Sovereign is conducted O&M at the on-site arsenic treatment plant.
